Overview of functions


The J1939 API is a programming interface that allows quick and easydevelopment of J1939 applications on a PC with Windows.
The programming interface is based on the IXXAT VCI driver (VirtualCAN Interface)  and is therefore available for all IXXAT CANinterface cards. Based on the J1939 protocol software from IXXAT,the SAE J1939 API allows complete simulation of J1939 applicationson a PC.
Via various interfaces, the languages C/C++ and Python areavailable to users for programming a J1939 application. Examples ofC, C++ and Python are included in the scope of supply of thesoftware.


Based on the J1939 programming interface, several applications canbe implemented on one CAN interface, which can also communicatedwith each other. This allows simulation of complete J1939 networkson one PC and is therefore ideal for testing and commissioningJ1939 control units.
Parameters of a message (parameter groups) are interpreted with aconfiguration file, which can be generated with the configurationprogram provided. This enables definition of application-specificmessages.

Transmission and reception of J1939 messages (PGs) with up to 1785bytes of payload (broadcast announce message, connection mode datatransfer)
Automatic conversion of received messages to parameters and viceversa
Use of the database from the J1939 configuration program forparameter interpretation

Support of several CAN channels and therefore J1939 networks ispossible
