grades, according to ultimate crystal size. The coarse particle type features low soda content and is available in three grades, depending on ultimate crystal size. Their very low dusting character
and high fluidity make them easy to handle. The standard and coarse particle seize aluminas are usually used to make sintered alumina, mullite, and spinels; fused alumina, mullite, and spinels;
formed and castable refractories; ceramic fiber, glass fiber; glass, flux; high-alumina porcelains; and separators. 细粒与微粒氧化铝

Fine and Extra-fine Particle Size Aluminas The A-42 series are highly common types of fine particle aluminas for refractories and porcelains. A-420 is high in both pressed bulk
density and thermal reactivity, which lends itself to use as materials for fine sintered products. A-43 series possess excellent sintering activity. They come in two grades of different ultimate
crystals. A-50 series have fine particles and very small ultimate crystals, making them suited for obtaining mirror-like polished surfaces. The fine and extra-fine particle size aluminas are used for
insulators, crucibles, formed and castable refractories, synthetic spinels, polishing and lapping filler, welding rod, flux, paints, porcelains.

The soda content and the size, shape, distribution of the ultimate crystals are well controlled with the unique technology developed by Showa Denko. AL-17 series are most widely used as materials for
IC substrates and packages. In AL-13 series, AL-13-H and AL-13-M are widely used as materials for resistance insulators and heat-resistant and laboratory porcelains. AL-13KT, which as large and flat
α-crystals, is suited to be used as separator powder in the process of ceramic sintering. AL-47 series are standard particle, low-soda alumina,. The fine particle low-soda aluminas enable the much
shorter wet grinding time than that in the case of its source materials. Moreover, since the green density is larger, shrinkage on firing can be lowered. Ground to 1~2μm, AL-43-M and AL-43-L are
extra-fine particle, low-soda aluminas that are suited for sintering applications. AL-43KT has excellent compatibility with resins and is used as a heat dissipation filler for expoxy resins.

Thermally reactive aluminas products are used in making ceramics and refractories, as well as for polishing use, because of their being not only convertible into high density ceramic products at low
temperatures but also of their offering advantageous properties such as extra fine particle sizes (AL160SG), and low viscosity (A-173). The grades obtainable by extra-fine grinding of alumina that
comprises small ultimate crystals. Sinterable at somewhat low temperatures and forming uniform structures, those grades lend themselves to use in making wear-resistant and high strength ceramics.
Owing to its stability in slurry viscosity, AL-160SG-4 is the best of those grades for slipcasting, whereas A-161SG is of a normal soda content but sinters at low temperatures. Suitable for obtaining
fine particle component of castable refractories, AL-170 is particle size controllable, hardly picks up moisture on slip, and has thixotropic fluidity. A-172 and A-173, which are higher in soda
